Cherry Blossoms
It’s a tradition in my home each year to head into DC to catch the Cherry Blossoms in the spring. When all I can think about is winter, my wife sends me the countdown to peak bloom. And I shuffle it away-its too cold yet to think about enjoying spring. But as time goes by, I keep getting her reminders and our anticipation grows as the weather changes.
During peak bloom on a warm day in the most popular spots, it is sooo crowded. Three o crowded. You can’t choose where to go; you go where the crowd takes you. It’s hectic, but people are in a good mood. After experiencing a day like that, it’s hard to imagine there are times when you can practically lay down on the capitol’s front lawn and have a relaxing picnic. There’s an enjoyment in being amongst all the crowds, but I’m the type of person to want to relax, sit back on a blanket and enjoy a peaceful moment under the falling blooms.
Take a look at this year’s trip and the beginning of sunset on the cherry blossoms.
